There are two ways you can become a dog groomer in Florida: 1. Complete an official dog grooming program with a comprehensive curriculum to show your dedication and knowledge. This is the recommended option! 2. Get on the job training from an experienced dog groomer, but those without a certification will have a harder time finding a job.

Dog grooming requires certain physical demands. Ask yourself: 1. Can you stand for long periods at a time? 2. Can you lift pets on and off the grooming table? 3. Can you firmly grasp tools with both hands? 4. Are you comfortable being exposed to dirt, animal hair, dander, and skin conditions? 5. If you are pregnant, have you cleared grooming school with your doctor? 6. If you answered “yes” to the above questions, dog grooming may be the perfect career path for you!

Pet's Playground Pet Grooming School offers drop-in classes for professional groomers to continue advancing their knowledge of pet grooming and perfecting their skills. Our classes are taught by distinguished groomers, and provide you real-world experience that you can immediately implement. New techniques are always emerging, and our classes provide working professionals a way to stay current and deliver the safest service.

Pet Grooming Master Class - Accredited Pet Grooming School

6 Hour Master Class

Observe and Interact with Nationally Certified Master Groomers.
Classes include live demonstrations followed by hands-on application with guidance and critiques.
Attendees are responsible to supply their own tools, tables and products.
Fees are $125 for the Hands-On experience (must bring your own dog) and $75 to attend as an Observer.
Master Class participants receive a certificate upon completion.

Allowed me to enter the grooming industry! Before going to school I was working as a bather, but never had time to learn to groom while on the job. The groomers and my boss were just too busy. Going to school allows you to practice on dogs and get your grooming portfolio started, so you can apply to jobs as a certified groomer. They also give you the background knowledge of breeds, skin issues, etc to confidently talk to clients. I’m now working as a groomer 1+ year out of school and would definitely recommend it if you want the fast track to this career. Pets Playground is also super flexible with scheduling and working with you. I’m glad I made the investment!

We have been using Pets Playground for a few years and they are the best of the best. We have a 17 year old rescue named Buddy and he looks like pretty rough sometimes when we take him in. Needless to say he has more than a few problems but they really take care of him and he comes out looking like the prince that he is and feeling so chipper. We are so thankful to have Pets Playground and honestly we have no idea what we would do without them. Wonderful staff, beautiful and always clean facility. Always so helpful and so considerate. Es la mejor escuela los profesores son muy amable y educado hablan español....y inglés..encanto profesionalismo.tratan bien los animales ,,parte dueño es muy amable...la secretaria muy amabilidad y educación .estuve antes en merryfield..es más caro el dueño trata mal los estudiantes.. los profesores te insultan te maltrata .te vas quejar dueño ...único haces es llamarte problemática visto esos profesores maltratan los perritos,,,,usan perrito a abandonado para ser conejitos india todo los día los bañan..práctica los estudiantes...es peor escuela merryfield....felicito para mi es mejor pets playground.. los profesores aman los animales y hay mucho respecto para los estudiantes y animales el dueño es muy amable humilde .si valora los estudiantes......por eso le recomiendo vayan tomen mejor decisiones....soy una estudiantes me gusto la escuela...

They do an excellent job with her to not only give her a great service but to be gentle and attentive to her needs. Do you offer financial aid to cover the cost of your dog grooming classes?

Yes! Pet's Playground Dog Grooming School is a nationally accredited grooming school. We can offer our students federal funding to attend our grooming school. How do you become a dog groomer?

There are two ways you can become a dog groomer in Florida:

How long does it take to become a dog groomer?

Our Pro Grooming course takes 4 months to complete attending full-time. Our Stylist Program takes 8 months to complete attending full-time.

How much does it cost to go to pet grooming school?

Dog grooming courses for tuition range from approximately $5,800 for the Pro Groomer Program to $9,400 for the Pet Stylist Program, grooming tool kit $1,100 (optional) and applicable state taxes. There is a $100 registration fee due at time of signing the enrollment agreement. Interest-Free Financing and Payment Plans available!!!

What are the admission requirements for attending pet grooming school?

All students must be at least 18 years of age, and show proof of high school graduation or GED. Prior to enrollment the school requires an interview at the school campus with the director, tour of the facilities, and observing a class in operation. An “Admissions Questionnaire” must be completed. Upon acceptance into the program, the student may enroll.

How much do dog groomers make in Florida?

Dog groomer pay will range depending on the setting and area where you practice. Florida groomers earn an average of $30,000 - $59,000 a year according to Salary.com.

Can pet groomers stay open during lockdown?

The government has determined colleges and pet groomers both to be an essential business that can remain open.

Huge opportunities presently exist in the grooming industry, these are found in grooming shops, Vet’s offices, as well as, the newly popular “Mobile Grooming Units”. We can also show you how to establish your own grooming shop. For students interested in the “show” circuit, our pro-groomer classes will provide you with the foundation for which additional years of hands-on grooming and continued training will lead, to “Master Groomer” status.
